Description:  Reviewed earlier here.  Gravel roads and sites with FHU (50A) near Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park.  We were on site 854 next to Bill and Nancy.  Dan, Tricia, Doug, Darlene, David and Sharon were right across the road.  Peg, Michelle, Rick and Gail all showed up later and stayed elsewhere in the park.  Near the county airport and road so there is a bit of traffic noise but definitely big rig friendly.

Trash and Recycle: Dumpsters and recycle at several places throughout the park. They want the returnable plastics,bottles and cans separate.

Activities:  We really love it here!  Maine is a great place to escape the Summer heat.  I love exploring the hiking trails with lots of friends and we had a nice site to relax at near some bushes.  On our way here we stopped at Holden Family RV Service to have them look at the air conditioner.  They were going to order a capacitor and a fan motor but it would take too long for the parts to arrive.  Dan and Gin got on the roof and traded parts with one of our other units and realized that the fan motor needed to be replaced.  She ordered one from PPL for $200 and Dan installed it.  Much cheaper than $1300 for a replacement by Camping World.  We didn’t do nearly as much sightseeing this time around since we had enjoyed so much of it a couple of years ago.  I did manage to do quite a bit of hiking and we biked the loop on Schoodic Peninsula stopping for lunch and wave watching on the Point.  We enjoyed several campfires and a few community meals thanks to Dan’s meat smoking talents.  Of course, no visit is complete without picking blueberries (thanks for the pie Tricia!).  I could just about stay here the whole summer! Description:  Older park with nice sized sites.  The upper level where we stayed (site 6) was FHU 30A while the lower level didn’t have sewer.  The upper level had paved roads whereas the lower level was gravel.  All sites were grass/gravel.  This was a KOA back in the ‘60’s.  The park is owned by The Masons so any profits go to the Shriner’s.  Seems that the park was for sell in the 1990’s and some friends who were Masons were talking around a campfire and decided to buy the place.  Although it is not real close to the exit, it is right next to I-91 so traffic noise can be bothersome.  Check the website for directions because there is a very low underpass on River Street.

Trash and Recycle:  Dumpster centrally located in the park.  No recycle.

Activities:  We met up with Dan, Tricia, Doug and Darlene for a couple of days on our way to Maine.  It was nice to get the PPA rate all three nights.  One day we all piled in our truck to go to the Yankee Candle Village in nearby Deerfield and then a walk around the quaint town of Shelburne Falls with the Bridge of Flowers and Glacial Potholes on the Deerfield River.  The Bridge of Flowers began as a trolley bridge in 1908.  It was abandoned in 1928 and soon became a flower bridge.  They have dammed the river some to better show the rock with the potholes in them.  The next day, I joined D&T and D&D for a very nice 20 mile bike ride on the Norwottuck Rail Trail near Hadley.  It was freshly paved so it was much nicer than most Rail Trails we’ve been on.  Hadley had more bike trails but this one went out into the countryside which was more enjoyable than urban biking.

Description:  Close to the I-87/I-84 interchange used by several rv’ers.  Level parking lot near the road was level but traffic was noisy.

Activities:  Overnighter after a rainy drive on our way north.  Another MH was set up near the fireworks tent.  I believe they were actually working the sales.  There were four other rvs in the lot by morning.
