NC State Fairgrounds Campground, Raleigh, NC

Date of Stay:  Friday September 6 - Sunday September 8, 2013 (2 nights)

Rate:  $25/night

Website:  NC State Fairgrounds Campground
1025 Blue Ridge Road (enter on Youth Center Road)
   Raleigh, NC 27607
   919-612-6767

Description:  We stayed on site 93 of the new section (2010) near the horse complex.  This area has 50A FHU with gravel roads and pads.  Trees have been planted but it will take quite a few years before there is any shade.  It is not open to the public in October due to the State Fair having priority.  As we sat outside, we could hear the crowd at the NCSU football game Saturday afternoon.

Activities:  Gail and Rick had contacted us along with some others to have a get together here since there was an RV Show at the Fairgrounds.  Howard and Linda of RV-Dreams were doing a seminar there so they joined us all for a visit.  It was a good time had by all!

Trash and Recycle:  Trash barrels are located throughout the area but I couldn’t find the recycle.

RV Resort at Carolina Crossroads, Roanoke Rapids, NC

Date of Stay:  Friday August 9 - Friday September 6, 2013

Rate:  $600/month (electricity included)

Website:  RV Resort at Carolina Crossroads
   415 Wallace Fork Road
   Roanoke Rapids, NC 27870
   252-538-9776

Description:  Reviewed initially here.  We stayed on site D15 which is on the end of a road and has a paved parking pad.  Teresa and Mike who manage the office had made some changes here since our last visit.  The office now has a small rv supply store.  They also charge electricity for the usual monthly sites.  We were on a site that didn’t have a meter so they charged us a flat $50.

Activities:  This is our NC homebase so we spent lots of time visiting family.  I was glad that Doug took care of my teeth.  Dr.Tedder in Rocky Mount did the root canal while Doug put in three gold crowns.  Gin’s family had a welcome home/birthday party.  Pam had been with us for two months so there were lots of stories to share.
