Date of Stay:  Friday May 6 – Tuesday May 31, 2016

Rate:  $575/month

Website:  RV Resort at Carolina Crossroads
   415 Wallace Fork Road
   Roanoke Rapids, NC 27870
   252-538-9776

Description:  Reviewed several times in the past.  We stayed on a different site this time (siteP4).  It’s closer to the office and pool but still has a gazebo.  This is a popular overnighter near I-95 at exit 171.  Most sites are pull thrus and all are level with 50A FHU.  A lot less long term workers here this time.

Trash and Recycle:  Put your bag by the road in the morning and they pick it up.  No recycle here but we take ours to a bin in town near Mom’s.

Activities:  This is always family time for us.  We got here on Mother’s Day weekend and left after Memorial Day (which was quite busy).  We have found out through conversations with other rv’ers that a lot of people that travel the east coast to Florida are familiar with this park.  The folks that stayed in front of us at CK for a month (Trish and Carroll) pulled in here for a few nights on their way up north.  Small world indeed.

Cedar Point Campground (Croatan National Forest), Cedar Point, NC

Date of Stay:  Sunday May 1 – Friday May 6, 2016 (5 nights)

Rate:  $19/night (with Access Pass Discount)

Website:  Cedar Point Campground
   391 VFW Road
   Cedar Point, NC 28584
   252-638-5628

Description: Reviewed campground a few times before.  Paved road and sites with pea gravel patio area.  We stayed on site 16.  About 38 sites with 50A at each site.  About 4 sites are held out as walk-ins while the rest are reservable.  The campground was renovated about a year ago primarily because it needed a new dump station and leach field.  All of the sites have new fire pits while about half of the sites have new picnic tables and slightly wider pavement.  Some sites were combined as buddy sites so you pay double for those. The new dump station took away three sites near the exit.  There is a new host site right at the dump station occupied by a nice young family.  Great place for walking since there is a nature trail and kayak launch in the day use area.

Trash and Recycle:  Dumpster located near the dump station.  No recycle now.

Activities:  We have been here many times in the past so we took a trip down memory lane.  It rained a little every day but we still managed to enjoy our time here.  The Walmart in Morehead City is one of the nicest ones we’ve ever been to.  Lunch at El’s Drive-in (El Super Burger) is the best.  We went to T&W Oyster Bar for some good fried shrimp (no tails) and hush puppies!  Found a new donut shop right next to the parking lot at the Bogue Inlet Pier (big twists!).  I did walk off a few calories on the Tideland Trail.  One morning we just hung out on the pier and watched folks catch fish.  The blues were running so it was fun to watch.  We were surprised one day when Charlie and Dot (from Cedar Key RV by way of NY) pulled up in their MH.  They were visiting a new grand baby in Havelock.  We chatted with them some of course.

Activities:  Overnighter about midway between CK and NC.  I asked an employee in the parking lot who said it was fine to stay.  Supper from Subway and breakfast from Bojangles.  We will use this spot again in the future.
