Description: On the mainland just before Mount Desert Island with Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. Gravel roads and sites with FHU(50A) and heated swimming pool beside the office store. We were on site 727 next to Dan and Tricia. Mostly vacant site (Gail and Rick cancelled) and Bill and Nancy on the other side. Recently renovated and is definitely big rig friendly. Nice view of Cadillac Mountain across the ocean.
Activities: So glad we stayed here a month! There is so much to see and do and it’s nice to still have some time to relax. We will definitely be back in the future! Bar Harbor is a busy tourist town and Acadia National Park has the most breathtaking scenery! We chose to drive back into Ellsworth for groceries and WalMart stuff. I did several hikes on the world class trails in Acadia with Bill, Nancy, Dan, Tricia and later joined by Sherry and David. We also enjoyed several bike rides on the Carriage Trails with Pam and Gin joining in. Gin, Pam and I also had some time away from the group to do our own things such as going to the Mount Desert Oceanarium and a horse drawn carriage ride to the Day Mountain Summit. One evening, GPS were joined by Tricia and Dan for the Timber Tina’s Great Maine Lumberjack Show. The girls (Nancy, Tricia, Pam, Gin and Syl) got together for a Whale/Puffin watching boat tour. We all spent a bit of time in Bar Harbor eating ice cream and people watching. There is a quiet local park on Sargent Drive to get away from it all and the Loop Road drive is just gorgeous! I can’t do it justice with words or pictures! There is so much to do here!
Trash and Recycle: Dumpsters at the bathhouse with recycle of cash returnable plastics and aluminum.
