Description: Although this city lake and cg is Kings Mountain property, it is closer to Shelby, NC. Even with FHU(50A), the cg is a bit rustic with gravel roads and sites and very wooded. Surprisingly, we got rooftop sat tv reception. We stayed on site 21 which was unlevel, as are most of the sites. We had to park a little crooked towards the rear of our site to be level enough to use all of our pads to level up the rest of the way. This made us further away from the ill placed utility hook ups so we had to use our 30A extension cord. The water pressure is very strong so use a pressure regulator so you don’t blow a hole in your hose like we did. Considerable traffic on Oak Grove Road during the day but quiets down at night.
Trash and Recycle: Trash cans at every site but no recycle in the cg. About 2 miles east is a convenient county recycling center.
Activities: We had wonderful weather here so we simply enjoyed sitting outside and watching the squirrels chase each other amongst the Autumn leaves. The cg was crowded for Halloween weekend with lots of folks decorating their campers. I spoke with one gentleman who said that about six families there did this each year. They had fun in a respectful way. We stayed here because we would be close to Gaffney, SC (our next stop for service) and the weekly rate was cheap.
