Description:  Dirt/sandy roads with dirt/grass pads.  We were on site D3 next to Tricia and Dan and had FHU (30A) with basic cable tv (no satellite reception).  Several well maintained seasonals who said that the previous owners left the cg during the middle of the night after going bankrupt.  Nice new owner came in a couple of years ago and has trimmed back some tree limbs and improving the cg.  Still needs gravel on the road and sites.  Open pavilion and swimming area at one end of a pond.

Activities:  Tricia and Dan met us here to go to Bar Harbor for July.  Enjoyed playing Sequence and Phase 10.   Fairly close to Concord.  We all took a day trip to Merrimack to enjoy the free tour of the Anheuser-Busch Brewery.  Enjoyed watching the chipmunks and red squirrels run around even though it rained quite a bit.

Trash and Recycle:  Dumpster at the office but no recycle.

Darien Lakes State Park, Darien Center, NY

Date of Stay:  Sunday June 16 - Friday June 21, 2013 (5 nights)

Rate:  $30/night

Website:  Darien Lakes State Park (NY)
   10475 Harlow Road
   Darien Center, NY 14040
   585-947-9242

Description:  Rolling hills in this area of the state are beautiful but many of the campsites are not level.  Located right off Hwy 20 about an hour from Niagara Falls.  We stayed in site A39 which is 50A with no water or sewer.  There are several water faucets throughout the park to take on water.  There are 155 sites in two loops with paved roads and gravel pads.  Nice large pond with picnic tables for day use visitors and a swim beach.

Activities:  Nice location for a couple of day trips.  Our first was to Niagara Falls and the other was to Letchworth State Park.  Everyone knows about Niagara but we enjoyed Letchworth just as much.  The Genesee River has cut a gorge in many layers of rock.  It is touted as the “Grand Canyon of the East” with the cliffs approaching 600 feet in height.  With beautiful rolling hills in this rural part of the state, it made for a lovely ride of about an hour.

Trash and Recycle:  Small dumpster for trash and two recycle cans (bottles and cans) at the bathhouse.
